Contacted two weeks ago about the possibility of a dream job... now I can’t get anyone on the horn to get the ball rolling.

And I have another couple opportunities, which would be fine, except they’re not the dream job (a big-deal thing, career-making, and what I’ve always wanted to do), and it’s starting to wear me out. Argh.

I left Florida for what I had built up as a dream job. Now I realize the colossal mistake I made...I’ll take an ok job in an area I like other than Maryland and this area.

Keep bugging them, but be polite about it.

Is the dream job being a RIO?

Recently, a friend posted a picture of him in the back seat of an F-16 over Arizona in a similar fashion to your Tomcatter here. Needless to say, I was peanut butter and jelly. He also told the story on his Podcast this morning. Bastard withstood 8G’s.

Well, I wouldn’t say no to it. Let’s say “dream job that doesn’t have corrective-lens restrictions.”

I think you can wear glasses in the back seat. But I could be wrong about that.

Design, car-and-other-things-related.

Sounds like too much fun to be actually considered a job.

Well, I’m a bit old for the flying game, at this point. I think that one flew away about 20 years ago. Maybe someday I’ll finish my hours required for soloing, though...

If you love your job you’ll seldom have to go to work.

I know the feeling, my last year of college I met a couple of guys in a small taco shop, connected to a gas station, that I’ve only been to once (talk about a coincidence) who worked for the testing division for Roush. They were on their way back from cold weather testing in Bimidji MN, headed towards Vegas. The only reason they stood out was that they were driving a brand new Challenger, and a brand new Charger with Mich. Manufacture plates. So I asked what they did and who they were. Turns out one of them had gone to the same school as me, years ago, and was interested when our homecoming days (Hobo Days if that gives it away) were, so I got his email and contact information. I also told him that I was extremely interested in what they do so he told me to shoot him a resume. I sent him one a day or two later and he said he would send it in to the higher ups. I emailed him once or twice more checking up and with information about Hobo Days. He responded and said that he had sent the resume in but hadn’t heard back, but he would let me know if he did. That was three years ago now. Talk about a let down.

Also, I’m pretty sure that they hinted at the Hellcat way before anyone outside of Chrysler knew about it. They said that they liked the R/T’s that they were driving but really wanted to get their hands on the supercharged Challenger that Chrysler was working on. I tried to ask a little more, but they said that they couldn’t say much else....

Well, sounds like you’re still pretty young. Unfortunately, once you’ve reached my age, either you’re in charge, retired, or doing your own thing. I did my own thing years ago, probably why I went grey so young. To be contacted out of the blue about something so exciting happens maybe once a year, or two, if you’re lucky. The radio silence is worse than getting a no.

Yeah, only 25 so there are still lots of opportunities to be had (hopefully), still was a bit disappointing. Best of luck to you, hopefully you hear something soon!

I e-mailed a museum in Alberta for positions there as working at an Auto Museum would be my dream job as an educator......but all the positions are only one-year terms, with a max of 3 year renewals....no permanent job chances there. :(
